His Grace, His Peace, His Strength

Grace and peace be multiplied to you! I am so thankful for the grace of God. Today, I am pondering on the strength God gives us in our time of weakness. Are you in a place where it would be great to hear a word of encouragement to lighten your load? Sometimes, we all need a huge dose of encouragement to pick us up as circumstances in life may push us into a place of uncertainty, invoke feelings of inadequacy, limitations, complacency, or even anxiety.

It is during these times we can be reminded of God’s grace and His strength. Recently, I was reminded by the Lord of His strength in my weakness. I had become taxed with many duties and responsibilities. As the list of “things to do” grew longer, hours flew by quickly and days seemed shorter, I began to become overwhelmed and what once looked like small hill turned into a mountain.

I know that I am not alone. Raise your hand if you’ve been there! How many times have you encountered overwhelming experiences? “How in the world am I going to do this?” you ask yourself. We sometimes have to race through our checklists, go here and there, or even take on assignments we feel inadequate to accomplish. It is then during these times we can take note of the many examples in the word of God of His grace and His strength during our times of weakness.

The Apostle Paul, spoke very candidly about the struggle he had with the thorn in his flesh; however, he chose to think about the grace of God in his situation. In 2 Corinthians 12: 8-10 (NIV) he said, “Three times I asked the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” Then Paul goes on to say in the latter of verse 10 “for when I am week, then I am strong.”

There are many men and women in the Bible who allowed God to glory in their weaknesses, like Moses, Gideon, Esther, Jeremiah, Joseph and countless others. God used them to do great things. It was when they sought after God that his grace and his strength began to overshadow and replace the weak areas in their lives. And so with us, the Lord overshadows our weaknesses with his grace, his glory and his strength!

I love this verse in Psalm 29:11 (KJV): The Lord will give strength unto his people. The Lord will bless his people with his peace. Be transformed! Can’t you feel a lifting? I know I do. Hallelujah!
