PAUSE for PEACE

Shhhhh....PAUSE FOR PEACE

This morning as I awakened, I was welcomed by the sunrise outside of my window. The beams of sunlight were peering through the cracks of the curtains. I jumped up, walked to the window, pulled back the curtains only to be greeted by a beautiful sunrise. I stood quietly. Taking it all in, I took a big breath, and as I exhaled, I thought of the word PAUSE and then the word PEACE came to mind.

So many days have passed, and even though quarantined, I have felt the perpetual tug of the hurriedness of “getting things done”. But this morning, the stillness welcomed me. I paused and reflected on the beauty that was always there outside of the window, the birds chirping, and the dew on the grass. I was reminded and am still reminded that when we slow down and become still enough to listen the peace that we need has always been there.

As I pen this article today and sip my hot ginger tea, I think of God’s grace, His provision, His love, and His peace. I am thankful for His peace that surpasses all understanding as I keep my mind on Him. There are so many things tugging for my immediate attention; so many things beckoning for my reasoning. There has been days of being in overdrive; planning my next move. We live in a world where everything seems to be moving at a rapid pace. The daily demands, obligations, and compounding schedule keeps us in a place of rushing leaving us desiring moment of peace. But now, this morning, with such gratitude, I am ushered into a posture of being still. One of my favorite scriptures came to mind. Psalm 29:11 says,

“The Lord will give strength unto his people, the Lord will bless his people with peace.” (KJV)

Again, stillness has brought me peace, rest and serenity. It is in stillness where I can truly spend time in reflection and in gratitude for so many of the things I often take for granted. It is now that I remind myself to truly stop, pause, slow down, and take notice that peace is there waiting for me to take hold of it.

Whether I want to acknowledge it or not, I am deserving of peace. It is my right to have and privilege to seek. There is a benefit, an ease and a strength that comes with it.

We all need moments of stillness and peace to listen,

to reflect and to “just be”.

Pause for Peace.

May your day be full of peace, tranquility, and serenity and may this be a blessing to you!

“The Lord bless thee and keep thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.” Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
